Without You – A Good Friday Poem

Without You,
I’m an empty vessel
devoid of meaning and value.

Without You,
I’m drowning in the abyss of nothingness;
saturated with misery and self-indulgence.

Without You,
there is no hope beyond this life
for death means an eternity
deprived of joy or love or light.

Without You,
I cannot carry this burden, this guilt,
this pain, this loneliness alone.

Forgive this prodigal child, Lord
and fill me with Your Presence!

Infuse my life with purpose so my hands and my mouth
may proclaim Your glory to those near me
for as long as I live in this world.

With You,
I no longer fear death for I now look forward
to life forevermore in Your Kingdom —
oh, what Blessed fellowship and beauty my soul has longed for!
