Prompt for today: Saver
This was an interesting word. One I haven’t heard used much since I was a girl.
When I initially read this word prompt my first thought was of my mom and her box of coupons she used when she went grocery shopping. 😊
She hated spending full price for any item especially if there’s a coupon to be had. To me, this was a perfect example of a saver.
Other words for saver are redeemer, protector, and savior.
For Savior, I automatically thought of Jesus and the ultimate gift He gave us to save us from our sins and eternal death. He was a saver of mankind.
The other word, protector led me to think about my husband, Jay. As head of our family, he also acts as the protector of the family. But, he once had another role as a soldier.
Today is also an anniversary for him (and for me). No, I’m not talking about the one-year anniversary of the Ukraine invasion.
February 24, 1991, was the day that the Gulf War offensive began. He was nineteen years of age.
We met in college when we were both eighteen.
My son is nineteen and has been talking about joining the military.
Lots of thoughts are rolling around in my mind – most are unsettling.
Saver.
Jesus came to this world to save us. Not from physical death, but the eternal one.
No matter what happens, He is our Protector. Our Redeemer. Our lives here are only for a moment but we have an eternal future waiting for us.

Wow–I’d guess this is an anniversary with mixed emotions in light of your son also considering joining the military. God bless you for the sacrifices you must have endured through the years as a military wife and may endure in the years ahead as a military mother if your son enlists.
