This week’s prompt really got me thinking about things!

I accepted the Lord at the age of six, but life would take me down different paths – many which were of my own doing.

I lived a life like a disobedient child who wanted to follow her own way. I’ve felt the Holy Spirit nudging at me to use my gifts for the Lord, but I wouldn’t hear of it. I wanted to do my own things – I didn’t want to do what He wanted me to do.

I learned at an early age how fleeting life was, and that even kids weren’t invincible to disease or death. Later on, I suffered the loss of my first husband in a car accident at the age of 25 – a few years after learning I was losing my eyesight.

Instead of turning to God for comfort, I looked elsewhere. I explored other religions; I even considered the Ancient Astronaut theory to explain the existence of God and the spiritual realm.

None of these could fill this growing void within.

It wasn’t long after the death of my dad in 2014 when I began to listen to that soft voice of hope and healing.

Even Christians can get lost in the tumultuous sea of life. And thank goodness we have a God full of grace and mercy Who’s willing to give us chances to return to Him as His children.

No matter how far we’ve drifted, He always finds a way to lead us back to Him.

Proverbs 3: 5,6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,

and do not lean on your own understanding.

In all your ways acknowledge Him,

and He will make straight your paths.

Philippians 1:6

And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

  1. As a wayward little sheep,
    I always thought “What if?”,
    and with common sense asleep
    I wandered off a cliff
and went a-bouncing down the scree
to land, not on my feet,
but on my head, and “Woe is me!”
    was my plaintive bleat.
    And then I heard a tired sigh;
    the Shepherd scrambled down,
and when He looked me in the eye,
I saw He wore no frown,
    but a tired hopeful smile:
“Please don’t repeat this for awhile!”
