Danger #FMFParty #Reflection #Inspirational

The word “danger” conjures up so many images and thoughts for me.

“Stranger danger” something I heard a lot growing up especially after the abduction and murder of Adam Walsh in 1981; and then again in 1987 when a girl I knew was kidnapped less than a mile from her home.

Danger’s all around us. Even when we’ve taken all the safety precautions, tragedy somehow managed to plague us with pain and loss.

As believers, we have the assurance that God is in control – nothing happens without His knowledge or permission – yes, this would include painful losses.

The world is full of suffering which cause people, especially non-believers to question if there is a God, much less a merciful and loving God who claims to care for us.

As believers, though, we know that God uses our pain and loss to bring about something greater, something beyond our current suffering – whether we understand God’s intention/purpose or not. We may not even see the fruit that comes out of this, but we can rest assure that God will use our suffering to further His kingdom.

It is difficult to see this when we’re in the midst of such anguish – which is why we cling so desperately to His promises of comfort and strength.

Psalm 147:3-5 He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds. He counts the stars and names each one. Our Lord is great and very powerful. There is no limit to what he knows.

Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

Revelation 21:4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.

The main feature of Five Minute Friday is our weekly blog link-up. Each week I provide a one-word prompt, and we all set our timers and write for five minutes flat, then post our writing on our respective blogs and link up our offerings on that week’s Five Minute Friday post. 1. I’m thankful that God is able to carry us through every trial we endure, Ann, and He is able to work it together for our good. I appreciate how you summarized it, “As believers, though, we know that God uses our pain and loss to bring about something greater.”

  2. So true, we can’t understand why God allows certain things to happen but it helps a lot to know that he is still sovereign, that he is with us through the trials we face and that the end of the story will be good! Visiting from FMF #3.
