WE KNOW

We are a society of anxious people

We’re anxious

Of the unknown

Of what we can’t control

We fear

Those we “offend”

Our own insecurities

This anxious society

Lives on pins and needles

In fear

Of one another

Of ourselves

The future?

Who knows?

We go to psychologists, therapists

To receive our

Validation

We are a society of anxious people

Including His people

Believers

Who know of the One

In control

Know of the One

Who forgives

Of the One

Steadfast, unmovable

The One

True Counselor

We know, yet…

We are a society of anxious people

**

Matthew 6: 31-34

So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

I Peter 3: 15,16

But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.

FMF – Five Minute Friday

The main feature of Five Minute Friday is our weekly blog link-up. Each week I provide a one-word prompt, and we all set our timers and write for five minutes flat, then post our writing on our respective blogs and link up our offerings on that week’s Five Minute Friday post. 1. I’m so sad to hear that anxiety has you in its grip, Ann, and I pray you find the freedom you crave. I do not deal with anxiety, so I do not feel that we are a society of anxious people, but I appreciate your honesty and authenticity. ~Lisa, FMF #11

  2. Praise God we can leave our anxiety in the hands of the One who loves us and cares for us. We know His promises are true and sure and our steadfast hope is in Him alone. Cast all you care upon Him for He cares for you. (1Peter 5:7)

  3. I offend most everyone,
    and I don’t even try,
but these days too quickly run,
and I am marked to die
in a choking lot of pain
    as cancer takes my air,
so I can’t take no more strain,
    and can’t afford to care
    about those who take issue
    with the stuff I write.
I’ll pass a box of tissue
    and a stick to bite,
then go upon my merry way
saying what I want to say.
