Day Three – Desires fulfilled in the new year (Prep 2022 series by Carey Green).

Trust in the Lord and do good;
dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.
Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him, and he will act.
He will bring forth your righteousness as the light,
and your justice as the noonday.

  • Psalm 37: 3-6

When I first saw the title for this morning’s episode, I almost did a double-take.

Does God really fulfill all our desires?

Yes, and no.

When we decide to put the Lord first in all things, intentionally – the next step is trusting Him.

As we build our relationship with Him, we begin to learn about all the characteristics that make Him who He is.

“Delight yourself in the Lord.”

This is what begins to happen as our relationship with God grows. We begin to take on some of His characteristics – transforming us from our old selves into one with a new heart and mind.

New desires replacing our old ones.

And it’s these desires God promised He would fulfill.

As I listened to this episode, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of nervousness as well as inferiority.

Why?

Being a wife and a mother, I know I have fallen short in being the kind of Godly wife and mother I know I should be. Inferior in that I certainly don’t have the gift to share and minister orally (like my mother is).

I have tried in other ways to instill Christian values in my family, but I fear they are not enough.

For these, I know I need to pray and trust in God to fill in where I have fallen short.

For the new year, I intend to delve more into the Scripture so I can learn more about Him and to build a deeper relationship with Him.

What about you? How did this scripture passage and episode speak to you?

    Love this. I have found it to be so true in the past, and this encourages me to trust Him with more and more as we move towards closing 2021 and walking into 2022 with Him
