God of Comfort

Our Ultimate Source of Comfort

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. — 2 Corinthians 1:3–4 ESV

We live in a fallen world that is full of pain and suffering, yet as believers, we have a hope that defies human understanding. A hope that one day, all the pain and suffering will be gone — replaced with joy and beauty of an eternal life that is void of tears.

As believers, we have something that the world doesn’t have, we have the ultimate source of comfort that is in a Person, the all-trustworthy and all-able God.

When difficulties, trials, and losses come to us, we have a lifeline to hold onto, to sustain us, and through our own suffering, we might offer the lost the Hope they are missing.

PRAYER

Lord, thank you that our comfort abounds through Christ. Nothing in the world can bring us the comfort and peace that you alone can offer. Thank you that you understand our trials, and you care. Through our own struggle and pain, help us to be your vessels to offer comfort and strength to others who are hurting.

Amen
