Ever since 2020, the world seems to be steadily growing darker and chaotic. Violence and lawlessness abound in nearly every corner of the globe. People turning on one another. Even the earth itself is affected by this crescendo.
If you’re a person with anxiety issues, it wouldn’t take much to bring on a panic attack. All you need to do is turn on the news.
Now more than ever, as Christians, we need to be in the Word of God. Not just reading it daily, but meditating and applying it to our lives. It will sustain us through this crazy period until the coming of our Lord.
No matter what’s happening around us, just remember that God is in control and is always with us.
God is our refuge and strength,
always ready to help in times of trouble.
So we will not fear when earthquakes come
and the mountains crumble into the sea.
Let the oceans roar and foam.
Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge! – Psalms 46:1-3
Jesus reminds us that all these things must happen:
“You will hear about wars and stories of wars that are coming, but don’t be afraid. These things must happen before the end comes.” – Matthew 24:6
No matter what comes our way – remember what Jesus said:
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33
As Christians, Jesus has called us to be the light to those lost in darkness:
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.” – Matthew 5:14-15
If you are struggling with anxiety – here’s a prayer to reflect and meditate on:
Heavenly Father, I know that You are a safe and powerful protector. Protect me from the fear and anxiety I am feeling right now. Send the calming presence of the Holy Spirit to help me overcome these strong emotions. I ask You today to help me run to You each time this feeling comes and to remember that You are here to help me. I know You are strong in my weakness. You are with me, and I lean on You and rely on You to provide healing and freedom for me in this moment. In the name of Jesus, amen. (Credit: K-Love)
