It’s Frosty Out There!

It’s another frosty morning here in northeast North Dakota.

Winters can be quite brutal — with wind chills easily in the negative 30s and 40s. Not for the faint of heart that’s for sure!

Spring isn’t too far away and before you know it, it’s summer and blazing hot!

Falls here are hit-and-miss though where it can go from summer-like weather straight into blizzard conditions. If you’re lucky, fall can last a few weeks to as long as a few months — but, it’s mostly weeks.

Whatever the season, I am grateful for the Lord leading my family up here to settle on our little farmstead. The move took us from a busy, thriving suburbia near a major metropolitan city up to rural prairie farmland. What a contrast!

Life is full of moves and different seasons — some take you to wild places you never thought you’d be and some seasons are long, difficult or quick, and productive.

As a child of God, He uses each one to mold and shape us.

I will admit, some changes can be very difficult even heart-wrenching — but He is with us through every single one of them.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. — Romans 8:28

No matter where we are in life, or what season we’re in, God is always working behind the scenes, orchestrating events for our ultimate good and the fulfillment of His divine purpose.

The key is to trust Him. And that, my friend, is where I struggle at times. When I’m struggling to trust God, that’s when the anxiety creeps in.

It’s a constant battle I’ll admit, but when I stop and pray, giving the situation over to Him, the anxiety tends to dissipate.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. — Philippians 4:6–7

PRAYER

Lord, thank You for our lives. Thank You for guiding us and bringing purpose into this season of life. We know You’ve designed a purpose for every human life. Regardless of what comes our way, we will enjoy this life as fully as we can. Let us allow Your Spirit to work in our lives, giving us wisdom to know wherever You’re calling us and understanding that everything You bring us to is good. Amen.
