God Loves All but Not All Will Enter Heaven

It’s probably one of the most quoted verses in the Bible:

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. – John 3:16

The church preaches that God is Love and God loves each one of us. Since sin separates us from Him, He provided a way for us to be reconciled to Him through Jesus.

Jesus is the only way we can get into Heaven.

Not by doing good work or by attending church each week.

For by grace, you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. – Ephesians 2:8-9

How does one get saved?

Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. – Romans 10:9

If your confession and belief are sincere, the Holy Spirit will come and dwell within you.

 In Him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in Him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory. – Ephesians 1:13-14

With the Holy Spirit in you, it’s a seal marking you as a child of God who is bound for Heaven. The Holy Spirit will transform you, change how you view the world, and how you behave.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. – 2 Corinthians 5:17

As a new creation in Jesus Christ, we are no longer under the rule of our sinful nature. Meaning that as a child of God, we’ve been given the Holy Spirit who will enable us to resist the temptations of our old life.

We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. For one who has died has been set free from sin. – Romans 6:6-7

For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. – Romans 8:2

How do you know if you’re truly saved?

Here are a few signs to show that you’re truly a child of God:

  1. You will have a hunger to know more about and of God, and the desire to be in a close relationship with Him. To accomplish this, you will find yourself delving into the Bible constantly.
  2. In your desire to be closer to Him, you will follow and heed the commandments set by Him.
  3. As you grow in knowledge and desire for and of Him, you will develop certain behaviors that are also known as the fruits of the Holy Spirit. By these fruits will we be outwardly known to the world as a believer and follower of Jesus Christ: love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
  4. You will take Philippians 4:8 to heart and strive to follow: Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
