In watching/reading the news, in seeing what’s going on in our community, our country as well as afar – it’s no wonder that our first instinct is to hide.
It’s part of the human’s automatic defense mechanism that we each have – the fight or flight response.
I personally tend to freeze and then flee.
I like to think I can handle stressful situations (and in the past, I have had to), but with an anxiety disorder, I’d prefer to find a hiding place and stay put.
But what about the times when we can’t hide?
When our enemy has us cornered or trapped?
This is a terrifying thought for me.
In a world that I can one day see bent on searching out all those who stand for good, for the Lord, to punish and persecute.
Oh wait – it’s already happening!
Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed. – Psalm 57:1
As a believer, we have the Protector – and this gives me great comfort!
We also have this Promise from Him –
But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. – 2 Thessalonians 3:3
Here’s a prayer of protection that I recently found and would like to share:
“Father, I want to live in the shadow of Your wing. When life is hard, and I don’t know what to do, help me remember that You are with me and that I am never alone. I cannot live without You. I cannot face tomorrow without the promise of Your presence. Today I choose to walk and live under the protection of You, The Most High. In Jesus’ name. Amen.” (Excerpt taken from https://www.biblestudytools.com/topical-verses/bible-verses-about-protection/ )
